Inverie Weekend 05
The motley crew pictured above revisited Knoydart during the early summer of 2005. The group were blessed with fantastic weather and an almost midge free time which was as pleasurable an experience as it was an unusual occurrence at this time of year.

The walk to Inverie was completed over the weekend of 10th June. A group of 13 participated in the event with a strong team of walkers completing the 17 miles from Kinloch Hourn to the Old Forge Pub in Inverie in a spectacular time, almost two hours quicker than last year. It has to be said we were blessed with exceptionally good weather this year which made walk all the more enjoyable. The walkers were also supported by a vital back up team who saw to it that all kit and supplies were transported from Cruden Bay to Inverie via a ferry trip from Mallaig.

The two groups met up simultaneously at the Old Forge and a superb weekend ensued with the usual musical contributions from John Simpson and Gordon Mackay during the evenings and enjoyable day out to Mallaig where an initial suggestion of a spot of site seeing was quickly abandoned in favour of sampling a few fine ales in the various excellent hostelries along the main road (in fact the only road) in the picturesque west cost fishing village.

The walk wasn’t entirely based around social banter, there was also a fund raising aspect which was importantly geared toward fund raising for our planned renovation of our lodge buildings. We are delighted to report that sponsorship for the walk raised well over £1200.00
