The Lodge has been fortunate over the years to have had a number of entertainers amongst their numbers, during the early 90’s Lodge members Jim Gardiner and Gordon Mackay had a novelty band who performed under the name “A Man Called Horace”. The band became the inspiration behind one of their other themes when the entire crew dressed up in country and western gear and the raft was decked up to look like the “Grand Ol’ Opry” stage, the band then played to the assembled crown who had come to watch the raft race prior to setting off themselves.
